TBHF-UNHCR announces joint press conference to unveil key humanitarian initiatives on July 14

Press conference to be held via Zoom at 11:00am

Sharjah, 06 July 2020:The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), a Sharjah-based global humanitarian charity dedicated to helping refugees and people in need worldwide, and the office of the UNHCR, will hold a virtual press conference on July 14, 2020, to announce the major joint humanitarian projects to be implemented between the two entities in the coming period.

The press conference will be held remotely via the ‘Zoom’ platform at 11:00am.

Maryam Al Hammadi, Director of TBHF, and Khaled Khalifa, the regional representative of UNHCR in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, will jointly outline the type of humanitarian projects the two entities will undertake aimed at supporting underprivileged populations in vulnerable situations around the world.  Together, they will also reveal specific details on the types and sectors of the projects as well as their targeted nations.

Together, TBHF and UNHCR has been at the forefront of tackling the many complex and long-standing challenges affecting the refugee and internally displaced peoples worldwide.

Following its launch in May 2015 by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, TBHF has provided health, education, and emergency aid services – among others – to over 3 million people in need in more than 20 countries.

Tasked with safeguarding the rights and well-being of refugees, the office of the UNHCR was established in December 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly.
