ART SHOWS, INDOOR SPORTS AND EPIC LIVE ENTERTAINMENT SPREAD THE JOY OF DUBAI SUMMER SURPRISES ACROSS THE CITY
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 17 July 2020: This Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), residents and visitors can enjoy an unrivalled calendar of sports, art and entertainment taking place across the city. There’s something for everyone with seven weeks of events including comedy, music and theatrical shows, fitness challenges, art exhibitions and more. Dubai will be buzzing with excitement as families and friends reunite around the city to have all the laughs, take in the shows and work out together during another incredible celebration of DSS.
The famous Dubai-based comedy club Laughter Factory will stage a series of hilarious live stand-up shows this DSS with performances at the Movenpick JBR hotel on 17 July, Zabeel House hotel on 22 July and the Grand Millennium Barsha Heights hotel on 23 July and 24 July. The fun and laughter also continues with the Mask On comedy show performed at the Junction Theatre in Alserkal Avenue on 17 July.
Fans of the performing arts can indulge their love of music and theatre with an incredible performance of the show ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’. Taking place at 7.30pm on 18 July at The Junction Theatre in Alserkal Avenue, the show features an innovative blend of video and live performances featuring some of the world’s greatest and best loved songs. Actor Wim Hoste will portray cruise ship singer Oliver Allen in this entertaining love story.
Combining music, dance and thrilling acrobatics, La Perle will keep audiences on the edge of their seats this DSS with its amazing Las Vegas style show. From 30 July to 29 August, there will be two daily performances at 6pm and 9pm, with a range of special DSS Combo Packages available including AED119 for a Bronze seat, AED169 for a Silver seat, AED219 for a Gold seat, AED274 for a Platinum seat and AED499 for a VIP seat. Seat packages include free popcorn or nachos and soda. Guests can also book a special DSS Staycation offer at the Habtoor Palace hotel that includes two show tickets, popcorn or nachos and soda plus a complimentary room and 25 per cent off at any restaurant in Al Habtoor City. The Jameel Arts Centre near Dubai Creek will host the first solo exhibition in the Middle East by acclaimed Iraqi-American artist Michael Rakowitz. Best known for his vibrant conceptual art, Rakowitz is one of the art world’s most in demand talents. Held as part of a summer of innovative art shows, Rakowitz’s work will appear alongside an ‘Artist’s Room’ exhibit featuring solo pieces by Lawrence Abu Hamadan, Larissa Sansour, Taysir Batniji and Lubna Chowdhary.
Athletes looking to keep up the fitness levels this DSS can play their favourite team or sport at Dubai Sports World. Taking place over three months at Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai Sports World is open daily throughout DSS from 9am to 10pm with the venue’s huge 25,000sqm of air-conditioned space welcoming part-time sportsmen and women, athletes and families alike. Dubai Sports World is the perfect place to play and workout indoors this summer.
