IKEA brings holidays to homes with ‘Vacation in a Box’ Campaign

Beat the holiday blues by bringing the world to your living room

Dubai, UAE, 20 July 2020: In the last few months, many residents of the UAE have been forced to cancel or postpone holiday travel plans. Hopes and dreams of browsing foreign street markets, making spontaneous friends abroad and trying exotic foods were quickly dashed. Enter IKEA who will spend this summer bringing the world to the UAE while the UAE is staying home.

To give people a little taste of travel at home, IKEA has created Vacations in a Box, a variety of handy kits that will help customers recreate unique experiences from the world’s top destinations from the comfort of their own homes.

Each box comes with essential IKEA items carefully curated to set the scene, depending on the destination selected, such as pillows, dishes, candles and artwork. Each box is affordable and contains décor that will add to the furniture many will already own, meaning they don’t have to break the bank to make their homes feel like Tokyo one night and Paris the next.

Carla Klumpenaar, General Manager of Marketing, Communications and Interior Design at IKEA UAE said of the campaign, “IKEA’s vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. Right now, many people are unable to enjoy the well-earned holidays they had planned. With our Vacations in a Box, it’s easy for people to experience a French-style candlelit dinner or sip green tea while kneeling on cushions inspired by Tokyo.

‘’The boxes contain song suggestions, movie recommendations and recipes that provide insight about the culture and traditions of each selected destination. All they need to do is add a little imagination, have fun with it and plan their next destination!”, she added.

Vacations in a Box will be available from 20th July until stock lasts either in-store at the Dubai Festival City or Festival Plaza stores or online.
