Cigna Showcases Commitment to Employee Wellbeing at UAE Head Office with WELL Gold Certification

With consultancy services from AESG, Cigna Insurance Middle East has become one of the first global health services company in the MENA region to achieve the WELL Gold Certification for its headquarters in Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC)

Dubai, UAE – August 11, 2020 – In order to build a healthier, more sustainable workplace for its employees, Cigna has achieved the WELL™ Gold accreditation by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) for Cigna’s headquarters in the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). This makes Cigna the first global health services company in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to achieve this certification.

This prestigious distinction marks Cigna’s continued focus on adopting and promoting employee well-being in the workplace. AESG supported Cigna by providing WELL consultancy services for the project. Through AESG’s expert advice, supported by onsite management and testing, Cigna met WELL’s highest standards across all of its categories, reflecting Cigna’s commitment to applying and executing best practices and global standards for workplace wellness.

The 20,000-sqft premises is a fully-fledged office space that will accommodate more than 200 Cigna employees across the company’s group health and individual private medical insurance (IPMI) businesses. AESG worked to incorporate several innovative design features in the Cigna MENA head office, many of which are first in the region. Through the implementation of design features such as circadian lighting design, low-glare workstations, increased ventilation and advanced air filtration, the team have ensured a healthy and comfortable indoor working environment. An extensive education and awareness campaign, including wall art and signage, post-occupant surveys and incentive programs, contribute towards engagement with Cigna employees on wider physical and mental health issues to promote a healthier, happier lifestyle for all.

Cigna has been pioneering employee wellness through programs and surveys that focus on stress, well-being and its management. A recently conducted Cigna COVID-19 Global Impact Study by Cigna which aimed at understanding the result of lockdown on employees revealed that friends, colleagues and family members checked in on each other more often than usual and led to people feeling less isolated. In fact, only 50 percent admitted to feeling less isolated from others in April, compared to 53 percent in January 2020. It is imperative to be connected and support each other as stress from professional and personal instances continue to be a part of life. Cigna’s COVID-19 Global Impact Study results along with Cigna’s commitment to employee wellness has helped the organization in taking the right steps towards achieving high standards of a sustainable workplace.
