Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 13 August 2020: Modesh has been doing what he does best during this year’s Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) – spreading joy, happiness and excitement wherever he goes! Not only has the fun and friendly Dubai character been busy sharing his great new look and introducing his best pal Dana to fans around the city, but he’s now launched the first Modesh Scholarship Promotion as well as a new line of super cool and collectable merchandise, which will be available to purchase soon.

Fashionable fans can even create their own unique Modesh-inspired looks when they visit Gap stores in The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and City Centre Mirdif. Between 16 August and 12 September, fans can customise T-shirts, hoodies, caps and all denim products with their own Modesh designs when purchasing full price items in store. Gap, the exclusive retail customisation partner for Modesh during DSS, has various options available for fans including cool embroidered Modesh patches, available during the week, and special fabric painting and patchwork designs created by artists at the weekends.

The ultimate Back to School raffle for students and their families, the Modesh Scholarship Promotion, is giving away AED25,000 each to a total of 18 students of all ages, from school pupils to adults looking to learn a new skill or qualification. Running until 29 August, the citywide promotion is open to shoppers who spend just AED250 in participating malls across Dubai. The winnings can be used to pay education fees for students enrolled in classes for the upcoming term and beyond. Participating malls will announce the names of the winners on their social media channels 24 hours after hosting the Modesh Scholarship Promotion. Malls include: Mercato Mall, Town Centre Mall, The Outlet Village, City Walk, Al Seef, The Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Festival Plaza, Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif, City Centre Deira, My City Centre Al Barsha, City Centre Me’aisem, City Centre Shindagha, Nakheel Mall and Ibn Battuta Mall.

A wonderful promotion that will help families financially as well as boost the academic dreams of students, the Modesh Scholarship Promotion is truly one of the biggest surprises of this year’s DSS. At the helm is the caring and outgoing Modesh, who embodies the spirit of Dubai; always inspiring, creating, celebrating and bringing happiness to all.

As well as helping students with their schooling, Modesh and Dana have been springing up across the city’s malls and attractions to give a warm welcome to residents and visitors enjoying the mega sales and promotions during DSS. With so many places to visit and new friends to meet, Modesh and Dana have a busy schedule ahead of them until the end of Dubai’s biggest summer shopping festival.

On 15 August at 7.30pm, Modesh and Dana will visit Mall of the Emirates for a Guinness World Record attempt using Funko Pops packaging. Shoppers and collectors of Funko Pops toys will try to create the largest mosaic ever made from packaged products – and in the shape of Modesh himself.

Modesh and Dana will then head to Ibn Battuta Mall on 19 August and Nakheel Mall on 20 August, with shows at 4.15pm, 5.15pm, 6.15pm and 7.30pm each day. They will travel to Dubai Festival Plaza on 21 August with appearances at 12pm, 2pm, 4.15pm and 6pm.

City Centre Me’aisem will welcome Modesh and Dana on 22 August to lend a hand with a raffle prize draw and to congratulate the winners at 7.10pm. The following day on 23 August, Modesh and Dana will appear at The Outlet Village at 3pm, 4.15pm, 5pm and 6pm.

City Walk will host the friends on 24 August with shows at 6pm, 6.50pm, 8pm and 9pm. At Dubai Marina Mall on 25 August, Dana and Modesh will meet fans at 2pm, 3pm, 4.15pm and 5pm. Visitors to DIFC on 26 August can see the characters at 4.15pm, 5.15pm, 6.15pm and 7.30pm. The friends will then visit the Arabian Centre on 29 August to help with a grand prize raffle draw at 7.10pm.

Fans of Modesh and Dana can also watch as the two friends travel around Dubai in a series of three brand new mini animated episodes that have been especially made for this year’s DSS. The cartoons, the first of which was launched on 6 August with two more coming soon, follow Modesh and Dana on adventures as they explore the city, from the lush mangroves and pretty beaches, to taking part in a hair-raising skydive above the Palm Jumeirah before relaxing on a lazy river at a waterpark.

Each episode, which will be aired online on the Modesh YouTube Channel and Dubai TV, not only highlights the exciting and family-focused activities that people can enjoy in Dubai, but also introduces the audience to each of the characters; giving a glimpse of Modesh’s home, Modesh Village, set on the banks of the Dubai Creek. Stay tuned, as the next exciting episode will be released on 20 August.

Released to celebrate Modesh’s great new look, fans can take home a superb range of extra special Modesh themed merchandise, which features cool collectables that capture the happy character’s fresh new style. There are even a few retro items available for purchase too, made especially for older fans who have grown up with Modesh over the years.

The range of Modesh memorabilia includes key chains, pins and fridge magnets plus retro T-shirts, mugs and tote bags, along with many other items to collect and cherish. Stay tuned for more details on where to buy Modesh merchandise!
