RAK Hospital Doctor shares his COVID story through his new book ‘My Story and the World with Corona’

The book investigates the future of COVID-19, the conspiracy theories about the disease, the vaccines and much more

Author describes the success of the UAE in battling the disease and leading the world in protecting its people

23 February 2023; Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: Describing his personal account of being infected with coronavirus, an experienced physician at RAK Hospital, Dr Elhadi Eltayeb Abbas Fagir in his new book ‘My Story and the World with Corona’ recounts the story of his illness and also attempts to explore the conspiracy theories about the pandemic and the vaccines all over the world.

Dr Elhadi, 74, has been practising medicine for more than forty years; he contracted COVID-19 when it was a frightening disease and almost a death sentence for people his age and with comorbidities.

Through the book, he takes the readers through his journey of battling the virus against all odds besides describing the worries and anxieties he faced and the uncertainties of people around him. Talking about the stages of his ailment and the complications he endured till he was discharged from the hospital, Dr Elhadi narrates the experience of contracting the virus more than once.

There is also a chapter in the book written by family and friends in their own words about their feelings during his illness.

Moreover, Dr Elhadi also gives us insight into the involvement of the ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and how he was immensely supported and looked after under the ruler’s able leadership. He also describes the success of the UAE in battling the disease and leading the world in protecting its people and its residents.

Author of the book and Internal Medicine Consultant at RAK Hospital, Dr Elhadi Eltayeb Abbas Fagir says, “I came upon COVID twice and was on the other side as a patient not as a treating physician. Going through the illness myself made me realize the pain a patient goes through and I was also able to see it differently being a doctor. I have narrated the journey of my illness through this book.

Moreover, the book contains chapters about the virus and how it started, its origin, symptoms, treatment and prevention, the theories about its origin and how people, authorities and politicians behaved towards the pandemic and its impact on politics and how it became an election issue.”

There is also data about COVID from all over the world in the book as well as more details about vaccines and future prospects of the disease. Eventually, the author tries to answer the question of whether it is going to live with us or if is it going to end like SARS and HIN1.
