The UAE Society of Engineers honours winners of the first edition of its “Excellence and Creative Engineering Award”

Under the patronage of Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Supreme President of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance, the UAE Society of Engineers is holding a ceremony on Wednesday to honour winners of the first edition of its Excellence and Creative Engineering Award.
The Society of Engineers’ President, Engineer Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, and the Award’s Higher Committee Chairman Rashad Bukhash, as well as a number of senior officials and engineering employees from the private and public sectors will be present at the ceremony held at the Cultural & Scientific Association in Dubai at 6:30pm.
Financial prizes, medals and certificates will be granted to three winners of the first-of-its-kind award across two main categories and eight sub-categories that recognise distinguished institutions and individuals.
Under its “Institutions” category, engineering offices, institutions, companies and public departments are targeted with the “Pioneering Engineering Project Award” for the best engineering project in any engineering field, the “Best Construction Company Award”, “Best Engineering Services or Consultancy Company’ and the award of “Best Industrial Company/Corporation.”
On top of the “Individuals” category list is the “Leading Personnel Award” given to a leading Emirati figure known for their support for local engineering, followed by the “Engineer of the Future Award” dedicated for distinguished young Emirati engineers, the “Outstanding Engineer” and the “Outstanding Student Award” which will be granted to three distinguished engineering students at any of the country’s accredited educational institutions.
Engineering offices and establishments are encouraged to attend the event and be introduced to the award, with an aim to take part in future editions with participations that will boost competitiveness and subsequently help achieve the award’s goals in relation to presenting pioneering designs and projects.
The award which was launched by UAE Society of Engineers in March this year to enhance a culture of creativity, innovations and competitiveness in engineering and design, comes in line with the country’s strategies that aim to achieve excellence across all fields.
Since its establishment in 1979, more than 67,000 engineers have joined the society which has over the years accomplished numerous achievements in terms of accreditation, regulating practices, standards and specifications as well as developing capacities and potential through its specialised committees.
