The conference of the Middle East and North Africa Society of Toxicology (MENATOX), which was hosted by the capital, Abu Dhabi, concluded from January 11 to January 14, 2022, and was attended by His Excellency Dr. Jamal Muhammad Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi. The conference aims to raise awareness of the safe use of medicines and the procedures necessary to reduce poisoning and how to properly deal with poisoning cases and their complications, thus preserving the health and safety of community members.
For her part, Dr. Badria Al-Hatalia, President of the Middle East and North Africa Society of Toxicology, said: “Poison centers around the world have proven their ability to improve the health and safety of community members by preventing poisoning, enhancing the health of the injured, and raising the efficiency of health care systems and public health. We are pleased By launching the drug and poison information service within the conference activities, which is in line with Abu Dhabi’s commitment to excellence in the areas of public health and health care.”
And here we met Dr. Ziyad Al-Aqzi, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the conference, saying that the first goal of the conference is to improve the treatment of poisoned patients by giving sufficient information to doctors and paramedics to avoid poisoning cases, and the second goal is to prevent the occurrence of poisoning cases and focus on the causes of poisoning and how to use and store them.
He expressed his happiness with the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Poison Center, which is a great project for the United Arab Emirates and the region, and praised the role and support of the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi and the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi for their support of the conference (MENATOX).
